軍造四川銅幣”是辛亥革命時(shí)期的產(chǎn)物。1911年12月發(fā)生“成都兵變”，以尹昌衡、羅綸為正副都督的四川軍取代了成立僅12天的大漢四川軍。新的四川軍成立之初即面臨著需用日繁、度支日絀的財(cái)政困窘局面。軍迅速接管了四川成都造幣廠(chǎng)，決定鑄造“四川銅幣”以應(yīng)急。民國(guó)元年（1912年）4月，四川成都造幣廠(chǎng)奉四川軍之命，開(kāi)模鑄造“軍
造四川銅幣”（也稱(chēng)“漢”字銅元）。

清代機(jī)制銅圓的鑄造始于1900年（清朝光緒二十六年），止于1911年（宣統(tǒng)三年）。鑄造流通時(shí)間盡管只有十余年，但其鼎盛時(shí)期全國(guó)共有十七 省二十局開(kāi)機(jī)鑄造銅圓。如以細(xì)微區(qū)別劃分，其版式在千種以上。因此當(dāng)代銅圓收藏愛(ài)好者以收集到名譽(yù)錢(qián)幣之“大清銅幣”為大樂(lè)事。
